MASSACHUSETTS – appropriation to keep certain pools and spray pads open

Issue:  HB 4400 (now HB 4401), Budget Line Item on operation of pools and spray pads under the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Bill Summary:  The revised measure (HB 4401) appropriates $15,990,493 for the operation of the beaches, pools and spray poolsunder the control of the department of conservation and recreation, provided that all beaches, pools and spray pools shall remain open and staffed from Memorial Day through Labor Day and that the beaches, pools and spray pools shall be fully maintained. (Item 2800-0501, page 62-63)

Status:  Reported by House Committee on Ways and Means on April 11. New draft of H.B. 4400 introduced May 7 as HB 4401; which serves as the engrossed version of the House budget and reflects adopted House amendments. This bill has been sent to the Senate Ways and Means Committee for consideration. The Senate Ways and Means Committee will examine the House budget as well as the Governor's proposal and release its own version of the budget.
