Affects: Those who build and service pools & spas.
Send comments to: Jennifer Hatfield, email@example.com
Rule Summary: The Maine Bureau of Building Codes and Standards (Bureau) has finalized revisions to the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC). The 2015 IRC, IBC and IEBC have been adopted as part of the rulemaking package with the IECC staying at the 2009 edition. This could affect construction of pools & spas if a jurisdiction enforces reference to ISPSC found in the 2015 IRC and IBC. The 2009 IECC continues to have outdated pool & spa energy efficiency requirements, which could be problematic (specifically the R-12 cover requirement for portable spas that cannot be met).
Status: Notice of the final rules were published in the Maine Register. The rules were effective January 23.
Notice of Final Rules: (Adopted Rules 2018-006 to 2018-011)
