Commonwealth of PA Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Update for PHTA Members who conduct business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The PHTA Government Relations team would like to bring to your attention two building code updates.

General questions or concerns may be sent to Regan Ratliff, Government Relations Associate.

The UCC Administration and Enforcement regulation has adopted the 2015 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) through reference in the 2015 International Building Code and the International Residential Code for use throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (effective 10/1/2018).

The ISPSC is referenced in Section R326.1 of the International Residential Code and Section 3109.1 of the International Building Code.  As a mandatory code, the ISPSC will create uniform design and construction standards for public and residential pools and spas throughout Pennsylvania.

ISPSC adoptions are on the rise with 21 states and over 180 local jurisdictions nationwide adopting the code.  View PHTA’s adoption sheet here. https://apsp.org/Portals/0/ISPSC%20Adoption%20Report/adoption%20sheet%20-%20June.pdf?ver=2019-05-31-152552-023
