Bill Summary:  This measure authorizes the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) to issue licenses to persons who have been previously licensed in another state, district, or territory of the United States or in another country.

Background: Spa and pool contractors are licensed under the Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Occupational and Professional Licensure (DOPL). The contractors are listed as S380- Swimming Pool and Spa Contractor under current statute. H.B. 331 broadly modifies the powers of DOPL to issue licenses to contractors from states with equally stringent licensure standards and would affect Swimming Pool and Spa Contractors.

Status: Failed upon adjournment March 9.
