Bill Summary: This bill relates to energy efficiency standards for certain products sold or installed, including portable electric spas, in Rhode Island to reduce energy and water waste and to save consumers and businesses money. Several other bills similar to this have been filed in other states and APSP is actively involved with all of them. APSP is in support of this bill because it references the APSP-14 standard in relation to portable electric spas.
As stated in this bill a portable electric spa means a factory-built electric spa or hot tub which may or may not include any combination of integral controls, water heating or water circulating equipment. Portable electric spas shall meet the requirements of the "American National Standard for Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency" (ANSI/APSP/ICC-14 2014).
