Bill Summary: This bill seeks to amend the Texas Constitution to now require an affirmative vote of 2/3 of all members of both the House and Senate to pass a bill that imposes a new state tax or increases the rate of an existing state tax.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019.
If this bill passes in November, it would mean it will be harder in the future for the Texas Legislature to impose a new tax or increase an existing tax.  This would affect all Texans, including the pool/spa industry members bother personally and professionally.  Specific to member businesses, it would make it harder for the State to impose taxes on them.  Members should be in support of this bill.
Status: This bill was referred to committee February 12, 2019.
