Rule Summary:  The Commission is working on draft updates to the appliance efficiency rules for pool pump replacement motors. The Commission is considering updates to its test procedures and energy efficiency standards for all dedicated purpose pool pump replacement motors. A 3rd revised analysis with suggested provisions was provided in November by Commission staff and APSP participated in a workshop that was held, also offering written comments.
The Commission has now opened a new rulemaking docket, 19-AAER-02, to follow the formal rule process.

APSP‘s Energy coalition has been and continues to remain involved with and monitoring this rulemaking process.  The APSP Energy coalition is also actively working with the Department of Energy on a possible federal pool pump motor rule to compliment the DOE dedicated purpose pool pump rule that will go into effect on July 19, 2021. That action would affect this Commission proposed rule.

Status: The Commission is working internally on the rule development. Meetings will be announced later in 2019.
