Washington – H.B. 1444 Energy Efficiency Standards

Bill Summary:  Alongside the IHTA Engineering Committee, PHTA actively worked with the bill sponsor to move this bill through the legislative process.   

This measure requires portable electric spas to meet the requirements of the American National Standard for Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency by January 1, 2020.

Starting January 1, 2020 portable electric spas must meet the ANSI/APSP/ICC-14 (2014 edition) standard.

Beginning July 19, 2021, residential pool pumps must meet requirements specified in the dedicated-purpose pool pump rule published by the United States department of energy on January 18, 2017, (82 Fed. Reg. 5650) and effective on May 18, 2017.

Status: The Governor signed this bill with an effective date of July 28, 2019.
