Issue: Apprenticeship Requirements for a License

Bill Summary: This bill requires the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Department of Health, respectively, to grant an application for licensure if the applicant has completed an apprenticeship and met other specified requirements

The department shall establish the grade necessary for an applicant who has completed an apprenticeship to achieve a passing grade for an examination. Such grade may not exceed the passing grade required for applicants who have not completed an apprenticeship.

If an examination is not generally a requirement for licensure, the department may not require an applicant under this section to take an examination.

 

The department must approve an application for licensure if the applicant has:

(a) Completed the 8th grade;

(b) Completed an apprenticeship that relates to the licensed profession; and

(c) Passed any examination required for licensure.
