Bill Summary:   This bill pertains to energy efficiency standards for various appliances, including portable spas, sold, offered for sale, or installed in the District.    

Definitions provided in this bill:

“Portable electric spa”, means a factory-built electric spa or hot tub which may or may not include any combination of integral controls, water heating or water circulating equipment.

Portable electric spas, as outlined in this bill, shall meet the requirements of the American National Standard for Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency (ANSI/APSP/ICC-14).   

APSP is in the process of crafting a letter of support and will send it when a hearing is set.      

Status: This bill was referred to committee April 2, 2019.
