Ojai City, California- Swimming Pool Construction Limitations

Issue:  Water Restrictions and Permitting

Affects: Those who build pools/spas

Send comments to: Jennifer Hatfield, jhatfield@apsp.org

Summary: The City will hear recommendations to review potential water-wise measures and development standards.  Guidelines and code changes include minimizing/prohibiting the installation of high-water use plants and landscape features not compatible with Ojai’s climate.  Where water intensive features such as pools or spas are proposed, they need to be maintained to be maximized water-wise efficiency.  For example, covering pools when not in use to maximize evaporation.

Also, the City Council will consider adoption of an urgency ordinance imposing a limited, 45-day moratorium on certain new and expanded commercial development projects requiring new, expanded, or greater than 10% additional capacity replacement water service connections, and new swimming pools.

Status: Ojai City Council will hold a meeting August 7, 2018 at 6:00PM.
