APSP Affiliate Successfully Gets NY Pool Alarm Law Changed
Thanks to the letters and memos sent by members of the Northeast Spa and Pool Association (NESPA), an affiliate of APSP, the New York State Legislature has amended the New York Pool Alarm Law to provide certain exemptions. Under the revised law, pool alarms are not required for hot tubs and spas with locking covers meeting the ASTM F-1346 Standard, nor are they required for pools and spas with automatic covers meeting the ASTM
F-1346 Standard.

Why? The law requires Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of businesses that make, store, or handle hazardous chemicals, including pool chemicals. APSP provides services that enable you to meet the requirements of federal OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 and avoid costly fines. MORE.

Pool Sales, Weather or Not?
It’s well known that in-ground pool sales are impacted by both weather and the economy, but which of these two factors has the greater impact? P.K. Data has evaluated economic data, weather statistics, and pool sales going back to 1980. Combined inflation, unemployment, and consumer confidence correlate to changes in pool sales approximately 78% of the time. An index based on temperatures and precipitation only correlates at a rate of 38%.
