Paramount Announces New Safety Act-Compliant Drain Cover
APSP manufacturer member Paramount Pool and Spa Systems has announced the availability on September 1, 2008, of a suction outlet cover that complies with the requirements of the federal Pool and Spa Safety Act. Any APSP member manufacturers that have suction outlet covers and grates that are in compliance with the 2007 ASME A112.19.8 standard, Suction Fittings for Use in Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs, should provide their product information to Carvin DiGiovanni.
The federal Pool and Spa Safety Act requires that on December 19, 2008, each swimming pool or spa drain cover manufactured, distributed, or entered into commerce in the United States shall conform to the American National Standard ASME A112.19.8 - 2007 Suction Fittings for Use in Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs, which is published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The Act also requires that each public pool and spa (as defined by the Act), both new and existing, shall be equipped with drain covers conforming to the ASME/ANSI A112.19.8 - 2007 Standard.
