Mr. Loel Muetter, environmental scientist with New Jersey’s Public Health Sanitation and Safety Program, recently met with the Recreational Water Quality (RWQ) Committee in Atlantic City, NJ.  The meeting with Mr. Muetter continued the RWQ Committee’s mission to forge working partnerships with the public health community.

As with other health officials that have met with the committee over the years, Mr. Muetter offered unique insights and practical suggestions that will enhance the committee’s work products, including the new model of the national water quality standard for public pools and spas and the digital newsletter for public health officials and sanitarians. The committee also learned more about the challenges that health officials face in New Jersey as they seek to promote aquatic safety.

RWQ Committee Chair Geoffrey Brown said, “The opportunity to meet with sanitarians over the past few months has been rewarding. The RWQ Committee meets three times a year in cities across the country and, at each meeting, makes an effort to meet with local or state health officials. We look forward to even more interactions in the months ahead as we continue to build relationships with health officials.”
