Strong APSP Presence in Canada’s Pool & Spa Marketing Magazine

The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals® and the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada continue to promote a strengthening of ties with the Canadian pool and spa industry. Five separate articles ran in the January 2008 edition of Pool & Spa Marketing in which APSP mention reflects a mutual receptiveness to an expanding information exchange. Topics covered include the:

APSP Signs Agreement with the International Code Council
As reported last week, APSP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Code Council (ICC) to cooperate and work jointly in a number of areas of mutual benefit and interest including standards development, research, education, marketing, and communications. The agreement was signed during the recent ICC code hearings in Palm Springs, California. The International Code Council is an influential nonprofit organization that publishes national model construction codes that are adopted by most U.S. cities, counties, and states.

Article by Copley News Service: Hot Tubs Are Among Greatest Inventions
A recent article titled “Bubble, Bubble—Hot Tub Can Be a Refreshing Addition to Your Yard” written by Copley News Service, a news wire and features syndicate, positioned hot tubs as one of humanity’s all-time greatest inventions. Copley News Service approached Gibbs & Soell to find a reputable dealer to give advice on purchasing a hot tub. As a result, Alice Cunningham of Olympic Hot Tub Company got extremely favorable recognition in an article that has already received local coverage by 10 newspapers around the Washington state area, and has the opportunity to be picked up by national newspapers across the country.

Chesapeake Chapter Hosts Successful Inspectors’ Night in Maryland
The APSP Chesapeake Chapter held a successful Meet the Inspectors Night recently with over 60 people in attendance, including seven state and county health officials. Guest speakers included APSP Technical Committee Chairman Steve Barnes of Pentair Water Pool & Spa, Inc. and APSP Senior Technical Director Carvin DiGiovanni, who spoke about how the new Federal Pool and Spa Safety Act will affect the pool and spa industry.
