Outline Approved for 2-Day Course to Certify Hot Tub Service Technicians
The APSP Hot Tub Service Task Force voted at its January 28 meeting in Atlantic City to approve the outline of a new certification course for hot tub service technicians. The course outline, which is based on the APSP Hot Tub Technician Manual, is for a two-day course. The intent of the course is for students to understand customer service and safety, to know the core concepts of hot water chemistry and electricity, and to know the fundamentals of hot tub equipment and control systems. The goal is to have a course ready to be delivered by the end of 2008.

The APSP Hot Tub Technician Manual is already available for purchase. To order your copy, contact Member Services at memberservices@APSP.org or 703.838.0083, ext. 301. MORE.

APSP and NPIRC to Partner on Hot Tub Research; Funds Sought
The National Pool Industry Research Center, in partnership with California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) has submitted a proposal to APSP to build a chamber to test the energy efficiency of hot tubs/spas. Phase I of the research at Cal Poly is to clarify the California Title 20 Regulation. Phase II is to develop the new APSP-14 standard on spa energy efficiency. If you support the industry’s need to have a comprehensive energy standard, to be developed by the industry and approved by ANSI for subsequent possible state-by-state adoption, then you need to contribute to the NPIRC program. See who the leaders are and join with them to protect your industry! MORE
