Hot Tub Industry Growth Initiative Update - April 2008
The search for an advertising agency for the Hot Tub Industry Growth Initiative has resulted in the selection of The Richards Group of Dallas, Texas. The final decision was made by a vote of companies in the hot tub industry who contributed start-up funds to the initiative and who met on March 26 in Alexandria, VA. The vote followed presentations by the three finalist agencies – The Richards Group, Blattner Brunner of Pittsburgh and Carton Donofrio of Baltimore.

Hot Tub Technician Course Expected in Mid-2008
The Hot Tub Service Task Force is a joint task force working under the education committees of two APSP councils—the APSP Hot Tub Council and the APSP Service Council. The Hot Tub Service Task Force is developing a comprehensive training and certification program for service technicians who service pre-manufactured hot tubs. The training and certification program is being based on the APSP Hot Tub Technician Manual, a comprehensive training and reference manual. Topics in the manual include hot tub structures and finishes; electrical systems; circulation, plumbing, and filtration; pumps and equipment systems; control systems; heaters and accessories; hot water chemistry; practical knowledge for hot tub service technicians; and hot tub safety. The APSP Hot Tub Technician Manual is available for purchase from APSP (memberservices@APSP.org or 703.838.0083, ext. 301).
Product-specific seminars related to hot tub service have been offered at different international and regional shows in the past couple of years. The basic course of the comprehensive training and certification program is expected to be developed by mid-2008.
